The exhibition will be hosted by the University’s Art Gallery from November 6-16, 2024.
The 6th Chinese American Art Faculty Association (CAAFA) conference and exhibition is an annual/biannual event that celebrates the innovative spirit and boundless creativity of Chinese American art educators across the United States and beyond. This event aims to foster a vibrant community by facilitating the dissemination of creative research, encouraging the exchange of ideas, and fostering critical teaching practices of Chinese American art educators who contribute to shaping the creative landscape of the next generation.
Theme
The theme is wide open for artistic interpretation. Artwork created in the last five years will be accepted for exhibition and presentation review.
"Converge and Coalescence" (东西汇流,音画和弦) explores the breadth of interdisciplinary practices within our community. It serves as a testament to the eclectic spirit that blends East and West and mixes varied creative fields, highlighting educators’ ability to transform siloed practices into boundless contemporary works. Through their efforts, they inspire students to explore the limitless possibilities that transcend cultural and disciplinary boundaries and encourage a spirit of experimentation and inquiry.
This theme reflects collaborative conference events that celebrate the synergy between Art and Music scheduled at Middle Tennessee State University.
A diverse range of presentation topics and artwork submissions that fall under the broad topic of Converge and Coalescence is welcomed.
The presentation could focus on your interdisciplinary practice and/or how you see the interdisciplinary practice as a whole evolving in your creative research or teaching (such as new elements or creative projects you have implemented to enrich/update your courses).
Presentations/discussions should be around 15 minutes.
