Cycle of Existence, are cyanotype prints on Pi Paper, each embodying the artist's exploration of life's perpetual dualities. Inspired by the ancient Chinese philosophy of the "Seven emotions and six desires," Han delves into the intricate interplay between birth, life, death, and the kaleidoscope of human emotions and desires that accompany these stages.
Through body-shaped-paper cutouts, Han choreographed the cutouts on Pi Paper and transformed them into unique cyanotype prints. The unpredictable process between sunlight, surface angles, and cyanotype emulsion, the resulting artworks resonate with enigmatic clusters, intricate narratives, and the ethereal allure of cyanotype blue, inviting viewers to contemplate the depths of existence and the mysteries within.
Each piece of this series was created by hand cut outs, placing them on coated Pi Paper and exposing them to light, allowing the action of light to create a silhouette effect, creating a blue – ranging between cyan to indigo or navy.
Every piece is unique due to the unpredictability of sunlight, the angle of the surface and the amount of cyanotype emulsion applied. Combined with the mix of blurry recognizable group, mysterious situations and the distinct intensity of a cyanotype’s blue, the series deliver a wave of impact.
